There are many theories about the origin of the name of Pallas Athena but my favourite one is that Athena was in a close relationship with Pallas, the daughter of her guardian, Triton. One day when the two women were sparring Pallas was mortally wounded. In her sorrow, Athena created the palladium and took Pallas’ name as her own.
Told ya they were gay
As an actual classical philologist, I can say that, although the myth is well-known, it doesn’t imply they were lesbians but childhood friends. Also, Pallas means “the thrower” from old “pallo=ballo” = to throw, because, as we both know, Athena carried and threw her spear frequently, especially in Trojan war, as a warrior virgin. Just because she was a virgin goddess, it doesn’t imply homosexuality at all, but her strength in diminishing the magic of Eros and Aphrodite targeted at her, meaning that, since love gods were known to awaken both, heterosexual or homosexual desires, Athena wasn’t gay. Just like Hestia, Artemis, Daphne and alike, she felt no desire for intercourse or procreation hence chose to remain a virgin godess. If anything, Athena was asexual.
There is such a thing as friendship, sisterhood, and virginity by choice, you know.
Well if you been on this blog long enough you will know that im always up for different version of the same myth, also I think that female friendships exists but I feel that Athena and Pallas’ relationship was like Achilles and Patrocolus {Gay but not entirely sure} however you said some stuff that really brought up my attention which I have to say some things!:
1.I never said homosexual I said gay ( Its more of a vague term in attraction to the same gender)which Its kinda of my fault since I needed to say that Athena was ace homoromantic.
2.We know that Athena was ace but do we know that Pallas was? I dont remember alot but I think she wasnt a virgin maiden which could mean that she was a homosexual.
3. ACES CAN BE ATTRACTED TO THE SAME GENDER BUT NOT SEXUALLY, THERE IS ROMANCE IN A RELATIONSHIP YOU KNOW?
but again if you see this myth as a tale of two gals being pals then go ahead because:
